Three inmates were injured in a fight Sunday at a federal prison just north of Phoenix, including one who was stabbed in the head, officials said. No staff members were injured in the fracas. Emergency crews were called to the prison northwest of Pioneer Road and Interstate 17 when the fight broke out about 7:15 a.m., said Beth Mitchell, a spokeswoman for the Federal Correctional Institution Phoenix. advertisement A Phoenix Fire Department spokesman said the department took a 39-year-old man to the hospital with serious injuries he suffered when he was stabbed in the head, the spokesman said. Two other men were also taken to Valley hospitals with minor injuries, he said. Mitchell did not specify what prompted the fight, where it occurred or how many people were involved. The prison was in lockdown pending a review of the incident, Mitchell said.
